How Can I Know the Bible is True?
|
| |
People who explain how Christianity is based on fact and not fiction are known as apologists.
There are many excellent scholars who have devoted their ministries to the question of whether the Bible is true. Some of the disciplines they represent include: archaeology, history, linguistics, philosophy and the sciences. Together, they have accumulated a massive body of evidence which would fill a large library.
Rather than attempt to summarize and/or attempt to keep the information continuously updated (which would keep many people busy full time), we prefer to refer people to individuals and websites such as those listed in our links here.
Perhaps the best place to start is with the writings of Josh McDowell. Over the past four decades, Josh has lectured on more than 650 university and college campuses to more than seven million people in 74 countries. For years, he would debate the question of the accuracy of the Bible with any college professor foolish enough to accept his challenge. Josh has written 77 books on apologetics to date. They have sold tens of millions of copies and have been translated into as many as 50 different languages. Some of his more popular titles include: New Evidence that Demands a Verdict, More Than a Carpenter, and The Resurrection Factor. You can purchase a copy of these books at any Christian bookstore, or through merchants such as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.

What Can I Do About Poverty?
|
| |
As you can see from the Missions Section of our website here, we live next door to terrible poverty. We travel to impoverished areas several times each week and we make several missions trips each year to Central Mexico and South America. As a result of our ministries, we are frequently asked why God allows poverty to exist and what individuals like you can do to help.
In order to answer this question, we need to begin by defining the term “poverty.”
Poverty has absolutely nothing to do with financial wellbeing or material possessions. By God’s standards, compared to His kingdom of heaven, we are all poor while we exist on this earth. Even all of the wealth found on this planet is nothing compared to His riches and glory.
Poverty has absolutely everything to do with a person’s state of mind.
Poverty is the hopelessness, purposelessness and loneliness that accompany isolation from God. It includes living in sin and rejection without an idea of where to go for relief. Some of the richest, healthiest and most famous people are the impoverished.
Now, let’s look for solutions. To see why God permits poverty to happen, you should read our section on Why Things Happen To Good People directly above. To see what you can do personally about poverty, click here.
