What Are God Questions
We are frequently asked serious questions by those to whom we minister. People just like you.

Although it is impossible to answer each one in this space, we have prepared detailed responses to some of the most common and most important. We encourage you review this entire page in detail to get some of the answers you need. And we especially recommend that you consider these three issues:

  1. If you read the Bible, you will see that many persons who call themselves Christians will spend eternity in hell. Are you one of these people?

It is critical for you to know! You can find out if you will be admitted to heaven when you die, or cast into hell in the section below titled Am I really saved? How can I be sure?

  2. God wants you to do your very best and find true happiness. But what does this mean? And how can you do it? You can discover some answers in the section titled What is fulfillment and how can I have this?
  3. You’re going to face some rough times in life. Maybe it’s illness, or the death of a family member, or financial setbacks. But they’re going to happen to somebody you love. And they’re going to happen to you.

So, why do you have to face adversity? What can you do when it happens? How can you find comfort? Or even relief? You can learn what the Bible says in the section titled Why do bad things happen to good people?

As you review the pages, bear in mind that many answers are also provided in pdf format. You can download these files from the links at the bottom of the pages and then review them at your convenience using an Adobe Reader. (If you don’t already have a reader, you can download your free copy here). You can also use the reader to print out as many copies as you desire.

Finally, note that we are presently translating this material into Spanish. And we add other material to this page as time permits. You may therefore want to check back from time to time.

How Can I Know the Bible is True?
People who explain how Christianity is based on fact and not fiction are known as apologists.

There are many excellent scholars who have devoted their ministries to the question of whether the Bible is true. Some of the disciplines they represent include: archaeology, history, linguistics, philosophy and the sciences. Together, they have accumulated a massive body of evidence which would fill a large library.

Rather than attempt to summarize and/or attempt to keep the information continuously updated (which would keep many people busy full time), we prefer to refer people to individuals and websites such as those listed in our links here.

Perhaps the best place to start is with the writings of Josh McDowell. Over the past four decades, Josh has lectured on more than 650 university and college campuses to more than seven million people in 74 countries. For years, he would debate the question of the accuracy of the Bible with any college professor foolish enough to accept his challenge. Josh has written 77 books on apologetics to date. They have sold tens of millions of copies and have been translated into as many as 50 different languages. Some of his more popular titles include: New Evidence that Demands a Verdict, More Than a Carpenter, and The Resurrection Factor. You can purchase a copy of these books at any Christian bookstore, or through merchants such as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.

Am I Really Saved? How Can I be Sure?
This is the single most important question you will ever ask in your entire lifetime. In fact, we are specifically told to, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.” 2 Corinthians 13:5

You need to know the answer because if you are saved, you will spend eternity in heaven in joy, comfort and peace in the very presence of Almighty God. If you are not saved, you will spend eternity in hell in pain, suffering and torment in the presence of the devil. There is no in-between place; there is no death for your soul to escape punishment; there is no way to escape from hell and get into heaven. Your only chance to get things right is while you are alive on this earth. And yet the Bible clearly teaches that most people will get things wrong [Romans 3:23] – including many persons who call themselves Christians [Matthew 25:31-46].

Fortunately for us, our God is a loving Father. Like good parents on earth, our Heavenly Father has provided clear-cut guidance telling a person whether or not he or she is saved.

How Can I Become Saved?
Are you lost? Were you surprised by your results of the test? Would you like to be absolutely sure you are saved? If the answer to any of these question is yes, then you should click here.

Do I Have to Become Saved Right Now?
You don’t have to do anything except die. It will happen to you sometime. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe in another 50 years. But it will happen. And most people never know when it will come.

If you have read this far in our website, you probably know deep down in your heart that there is a God, that there are places called heaven and hell, and that you will spend eternity in one place or the other. If you read the Bible honestly, you know that the only way to reach heaven is to follow the teachings provided in Scripture. This means that someday you will call upon our Lord for His help and His salvation. Maybe that day will come when you are sitting in a doctor’s office waiting for a test. Maybe it will come when you feel your car veering out of control. Maybe it will come when you feel a sharp pain in your chest. Maybe it will come some other time. But that day will come.

Now ask yourself these three questions:

  1. Is it wise to put off something I know I’m going to do anyway?
  2. Should I spend even another day of my life in fear and uncertainty rather than in joy and contentment?
  3. Do I know for sure that I will have another chance to place my trust in Jesus before it’s too late?

If you honestly answered NO to any of the three questions, then you are telling yourself that you have to become saved right now.

What Is Fulfillment And How Can I Have This?
Perhaps you were just saved. Or perhaps you have dropped out of Christian fellowship for a time and would like to get started again. Either way, you need to know where to go from here.

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?
What should you do when someone you care about is facing difficulties? What should you do when adversity happens to you? Why does there have to be pain and suffering at all?

These are some of the most important questions people ask of pastors – and to God. These are questions you have probably wondered about. These are questions to which you deserve an answer. And the Bible addresses each of them head on.

The Bible has a lot to say about “affliction,” a word that Christians commonly use to denote pain and suffering. Affliction is probably one of the top ten topics in terms of the number of verses. It is discussed throughout the Bible, in every book. Many scholars believe Job was the first book of the Bible to be written – set down even before Genesis. Revelation was the last book to be recorded. Both deal extensively with pain and suffering. God’s first and last words to mankind concerned this very subject!

We have placed a series of three lessons on this website. They will help you by answering critical questions and by teaching you how to apply Biblical principles to your own circumstances.

The first tells you how to get started by putting things into their proper perspective. The second explains why God allows pain and suffering to exist. The third tells you how you can obtain comfort for yourself and help others.

We recommend you go through these lessons in the order they are presented. This allows you to use the information gained from one study to better understand the teachings found in the next.

You can start with the first lesson by clicking here.

What Can I Do About Poverty?

As you can see from the Missions Section of our website here, we live next door to terrible poverty. We travel to impoverished areas several times each week and we make several missions trips each year to Central Mexico and South America. As a result of our ministries, we are frequently asked why God allows poverty to exist and what individuals like you can do to help.

In order to answer this question, we need to begin by defining the term “poverty.”

Poverty has absolutely nothing to do with financial wellbeing or material possessions. By God’s standards, compared to His kingdom of heaven, we are all poor while we exist on this earth. Even all of the wealth found on this planet is nothing compared to His riches and glory.

Poverty has absolutely everything to do with a person’s state of mind.

Poverty is the hopelessness, purposelessness and loneliness that accompany isolation from God. It includes living in sin and rejection without an idea of where to go for relief. Some of the richest, healthiest and most famous people are the impoverished.

Now, let’s look for solutions. To see why God permits poverty to happen, you should read our section on Why Things Happen To Good People directly above. To see what you can do personally about poverty, click here.

What are the Meanings of Some of the God Words that I Hear People Use?
Christians do indeed have some special terms which we use to talk about our faith. These words developed over time to describe specific things that apply to us just like doctors, lawyers and engineers have created their own special terms for use in their professions. Unfortunately, even though these words are necessary, they can be somewhat confusing to a non-believer, a new believer, or even to some Christians who have attended church for a long time. If you would like to see some of the words we use and understand what they mean to us, click here.
