This issue of what will happen to you after you accept Christ is the most important question you can ever ask except for “Am I really saved?” You need to know the answer in order to prepare yourself for what follows your decision to follow Christ.
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
If you have really become a Christian, then your life will change. It will be immediate. It will be significant. And it will increase over time. This is because, as pointed out in the scripture shown directly above, when a person accepts Jesus as Savior, they also accept Him as Lord.
When we call Jesus “Lord,” we are not just stating our respect for Him. We are acknowledging that we belong to Jesus as his bondservant. This doesn’t just mean that we worship Jesus as the one true God. In fact, it also means that we are committed to serving Jesus as our Supreme Master. We are committing to give Him complete authority over our lives. A Christian is a person under new management. No area of a believer’s life is exempt.
As humans, we often fail at letting Jesus take complete control of our lives. However, this is not an excuse to just give up and live our lives the way we want to live. We must remember that just as a baby has to learn many new things once born into this world, we as new Christians have much to learn. Just as our parents were there to help us take those first steps, Jesus is there to help us. We grow stronger as we practice and learn from our mistakes. It is pleasing to God when we strive to do His will above all else. We also experience a deep satisfaction and peace when we are faithful to Him.
So how can you begin to experience this satisfaction and peace? We recommend that you start by learning how to spend time with Jesus. You can do that by clicking here.
