Our Volunteers Volunteers are the life blood of any Christian organization. In most cases, including FBC Weslaco, they provide the vast majority of the talent, creativity, manpower and financing. The Body of Christ simply cannot exist without volunteers. Giving is never just a one way street. Volunteering develops spiritual gifts and draws people closer to Christ. Volunteers will always derive great satisfaction and benefit through contributing their time and talents – certainly in the next life if not always in the present. At FBC Weslaco, our volunteers serve Christ through our ministries, through our missions, in our Deacon Body, and in our committees. Our Deacon Body Deacons are servants of our church. They have been chosen by our church body after having been found qualified as per the requirements of 1 Timothy 3: 8-13. They serve with our Pastor in performing certain pastoral ministries, they proclaim the Gospel to believers and unbelievers alike, care for the church members and other persons in the community, assist in the areas of education and worship, and lead the church in performing its tasks. Each committee is comprised of members of our congregation who have been elected to their position by the church membership. Some committees were established to oversee the day-to-day operations of our church. These include the Personnel, Budget & Finance, Building and Grounds Committees, and the Board of Directors of our Bess Knapp Child Development and Child Care Center. Other committees were established to lead or serve our ministries. Examples include our Ushers, Music, Youth, Missions, and Benevolence committees.
