Easter is the most important day of the year for Christians.

Each year, we celebrate our Lord’s resurrection in a special way – on the road to Mexico to share the story of our Risen Savior with lost people.

We assemble for prayer right after our morning worship services.

Our destination is Higuerillas, Tamaulipas, Mexico. This is a small fishing village on the Gulf coast about one hour south of Brownsville, Texas.

You will notice several children in this picture. We always take our kids along on these types of cross-border trips. As you can see below, they play a key role.

We begin by assembling the village children with our children. Then, one of our church members tells them the story of Jesus and His awesome love.

The children listen intently.

Then the children break into smaller groups and play together until the adults finish their worship service. American children mingled with Mexican children. Sharing the Gospel. Nobody can teach a child better than another child. There is no better way to learn something than to teach it. A win-win situation.

Inside, our Pastor Guillermo Lopez is preaching the Word of God to the adults. Many of them are the parents and grandparents of the children in the previous pictures.

The people you see here are accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior. Eight persons made a first-time profession of faith that Easter Sunday at that one service. The local pastor, Jose Vasquez, is praying with them at the pulpit.

Pastor Lopez always explains that salvation means a lifetime commitment to the lordship of Christ. This includes studying His Word and obeying His commandments. Our new brothers and sisters in Christ are also encouraged to join the local body of believers in Christ and follow His instructions in believer’s baptism.

Our missions team is gathered with our Mexican hosts in this picture – taken just before we began our trip home. Pastor Vasquez is in the white shirt, standing in the back row to the left of the door post. He is one of more than 40 pastors we serve in Northern Mexico alone.

How you can help
There are many more places we can go on Easter Sunday. Some are a short hop across the border like Higuerillas. Others can be reached in an overnight trip. If you are a member of our community, you are invited to join our missions team. If you are a member of another body of Christ, you are invited to work with us with either your own team, or as part of one of our units. You are also invited to bring your children. Any way you choose, it will be an Easter like no other.
