When are your services?

We list the times for our four Sunday worship services and briefly describe them here.

What are your sermons like?

We describe our Pastor’s message style here and you can hear some of his sermons here.

Where are you located?

Our campus is at the intersection of 6th and Kansas in downtown Weslaco. We are easy to reach from just about anywhere in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. For a map and driving directions, click here .

Should I bring a Bible?

Sure. Most of our members and guests do. But we also include all of the text on the screens in the front of the sanctuary for your convenience. And we also have placed Bibles in the backs of most pews.

Who runs your church?

FBC Weslaco follows the “congregational” form of church governance. As such, we function in a democratic manner. Our most important decisions such as the selection of our Pastor and the adoption of operating budgets are made: (a) in called meetings, (b) held in our church sanctuary, (c) announced in advance (usually in both church bulletins and from the pulpit), (d) which may be attended by any person, (e) who may debate any issue, (f) following which resolutions are adopted or rejected (g) by the decision of a majority of the attending Church Membership.

FBC Weslaco employs a Pastor. He is our shepherd directed to serve our Owner, Christ Jesus (Psalm 77:20, 78:52, John 10:14 ff).

FBC Weslaco also employs a well-qualified, highly motivated staff. These individuals work under the direction of the Pastor. They are employed to fulfill the mission of the church, carry out the assignments of the Pastor, direct the efforts of volunteers, and minister to the needs of the church members.

FBC Weslaco has ordained several men as deacons in accordance with the teachings of 1 Timothy 3:8-13. These men, and the committees they lead, are chosen to serve the Pastor, the church staff and the church members as necessary, and to provide oversight.

I come from a Catholic background. How are you different from them in your worship and your beliefs?

Although there are many similarities between the views of Roman Catholics and Baptists, Baptists tend to place more authority on the Bible, more emphasis on personal acceptance of Christ as a Savior, and more study of the Bible in all aspects of congregational life.

Will somebody from FBC Weslaco knock on my door after I attend your services?

Not unless you specifically ask us to visit you. We greet all guests when they enter our church, but that is all. We believe that our Lord will lead you to contact us when you are ready to talk further. Whenever you feel that time has come, you can come by our church offices, talk to one of our staff over the telephone, or click here.

I like FBC Weslaco. How do I join?

You can either speak with one of our pastoral staff at any time, or contact our staff directly by clicking here or come to the front of the church at the end of one of our worship services.

Do I have to give money to FBC Weslaco, either before or after I join?

No.

It’s true that the only money we have to pay for the expenses of our ministries comes from the voluntary gifts from our members and guests. We do not run any for profit businesses and we do not accept money from any government agency. But the amount that anyone gives is determined only by that individual.

From time to time, we will make general announcements in our services concerning specific needs (for example, offerings to support international missions), but we will never corner you and try to force you to give.

Just as important, nobody will ever know how much you give except you and our Lord. The names of all contributors and the amounts of their offerings is always kept strictly confidential. For more information about giving to FBC Weslaco, including our policy on giving, click here.

I would like to get involved. How do I do that?

The best way to get involved at FBC Weslaco is to join a Bible Study class or participate in one of our ministries. You can get more information about Bible Studies and our Ministries by clicking here.

Do I need to become Baptized before I get involved?

No. You need to become baptized before you can become a voting member of our church, but anybody is invited to attend any worship service, Bible Study class, church function or other event. In fact, many of our activities are specially designed to minister to unsaved, un-baptized persons.

I want to be Baptized. What is the process?

You can either speak with one of our pastoral staff at any time, or contact our staff directly by clicking here, or come to the altar at the end of one of our worship services.

I have a family. What kind of children and youth programs do you offer?

We’re here to help you build a foundation of faith in your children. We offer childcare during the Sunday morning services and Bible Study Classes. We also have programs for children through the fifth grade, as well as special programs for middle school and high school students. For more information about our youth activities, click here.

How many people are "saved" through your church?

We are asked this question a lot, and the correct answer is, "Only God knows."

We can report that each year dozens in our community make first time professions of faith through our ministries. They are joined by hundreds of others in foreign countries who accept Christ and thousands more who rededicate their lives to Him on our missions trips.

I like the material on your website. Can I use some of it at my church?

Absolutely. Although we have copyrighted all the original material you see published on this site. Anybody may use it in a manner which glorifies God in accordance with the beliefs of our church any time without royalties.

I have another question.

Please feel free to ask here. We will try to answer your question promptly. You should note that we may post your question and its answer our website if we find that enough people are seeking the same information. However, we never reveal either the name of the person who asked the question, or any other information which can be used to identify that individual.
