We go in the name of Christ to help others in times of natural disasters.

Mexico has no disaster relief agencies such as FEMA, so we do our best to fill in.

We have made more than 15 trips to the Gulf Coast of Mexico in just the last two years alone. There we cleaned up after Hurricanes Emily and Stan. Emily, at one time a category 5 storm slammed into La Pesca with greater intensity than Hurricane Katrina had when it hit Louisiana. Stan was a weaker storm, but contained far more moisture than either Emily or Katrina and caused immense flooding.

When we arrived on scene, we distributed tons of food, clothing, shoes, blankets, diapers and drinking water. We also rebuilt six houses and one church. Here, you see one of these houses under construction in La Pesca.

A magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck south-southeast of Lima, Peru in August 2008. We diverted a planned missions trip to help.

Among other things, we helped out by distributing food, clothing, Bibles, tracts, rebuilding churches, and distributing funds. You can read more about these efforts here.

Closer to home, we made several trips to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Among other things, we cleaned out several houses, cooked meals for relief workers, comforted those who lost so much, and aided in many other ways.

We also conducted worship services for the benefit of the ones who remained in New Orleans. This one, led by our Dan Fleischmann, one of six ordained pastors who worship and serve in our church in addition to our full time staff, was attended by more than 500 persons. Most of them were relief workers.

We received a special citation from the Deputy Director of FEMA for our efforts. Among other things, it said:

Some came to encourage. Others came to watch. You came to work!”

Actually, that's not quite correct. We came seeking to glorify God. The work was something that just happened.

How you can help
Remember us in your prayers and with your giving any time a natural disaster occurs in South Texas or Northern Mexico because we will always be doing whatever we can to help in the name of our Lord. You can contact our church offices for more details by clicking here.
