These photos show why our Winter Texan members are such a special part of the ministry of this church – and why they are so important to our Lord.
Last year, some of our Winter Texans at the Southern Comfort Trailer Park organized a mission trip to Nuevo Progresso.
They collected old shoes and clothes, purchased some gifts and solicited donations from local merchants. Then they set out with our Missions Pastor for Mexico.
Poverty is everywhere in Mexico. This was our chance to give lovely children like this something for Christmas.
It didn’t take long for the word of our arrival to get out. A crowd quickly gathered.
After an a brief message about Jesus, we began to hand out our gifts …
… until we eventually handed out all our presents.
Shoes are always wanted.
Blankets are a blessing …
… for everybody, including these girls.
Even old carpeting is precious.
Simple inexpensive items that we take for granted are a big hit. Things like toothbrushes …
… and pencils …
… and matches …
… and candy.
Then we got to the real reason for the trip – to share the greatest Christmas gift of all. Jesus.
People are always free to leave any time. But look how many stayed. And look how intently they listen.
Our Missions Pastor Guillermo Lopez got down to business.
Then he led the group in prayer.
Then he asked the people if they would like to begin a new life with Christ.
