Our Caleb and Christy Swaringen just returned home from Guatemala

New Life Children's Home is currently a home to 49 children, aged 7 to 24. The children come to the home for many different reasons, and all of them come with hurt and pain. The home truly offers them new life in the name of Christ.

We visited the home of one of the home mothers, Sonia. Though it is a home full of love, the material needs are just barely met. It really gave us a picture of what most of the kids are coming from.

Caleb taught English class to the younger kids in the afternoon. Highlights of their lessons included learning body parts and singing "Pharaoh, Pharaoh," with the motions.

Two-thirds of the kids at the home are now teenagers, which brings a whole new set of challenges.

Javier is one of the newest children to the home. He and his brother Eliseo came in May, and the transformation in their lives is amazing.

Emily is an adorable little girl who is full of life and energy.

We put on different special events throughout the summer for the kids, including a STOMP praise night where we focused on living in the rhythm of God.

We also celebrated July 4th with face painting, relay races, carnival games, hamburgers and fireworks.

The kids loved dressing up for our SuperHero party. We watched "The Incredibles" and had popcorn and brownies.

We also told bedtime stories to the kids, complete with costumes and props. Seeing them in their beds with their pajamas was priceless.
